Chasing the dreams: Chapter 4

My Erasmus exchange journey to Spain: A Breath of Fresh Air

After completing my first major project and helping to host a successful workshop week, it was time for a well-deserved break.

I packed my beach bag and headed off to the coast, ready to recharge my batteries and prepare for the next event on the horizon.  It was a much-needed calm Sunday away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday life. My current home town Granada, while being an inland city, is conveniently located just a short one-hour bus ride away from the stunning Costa del Sol. Once you arrive at the coast, you're presented with a variety of cities to explore.

This charming town offers a picturesque hilltop fortress, an old town filled with character, and a beautiful, expansive beach. Salobreña is the perfect place for a relaxing day visit, without the commotion of the larger tourist destinations. I had my snacks, book and sun block in my bag and eagerness for a day of solitude. Sometimes Spanish people can be quite intense, with their big personalities, loud exterior and no need for personal space.

Slowly my weekend came to an end, I returned to work feeling refreshed, ready to take on my next project. This time, it was a sustainability conference called Green. As a firm believer in the importance of environmental responsibility, I was eager to contribute to a cause that aligned so closely with my values.

For this project, I was tasked with designing the landing page, which would serve as the online base for the conference. It was a challenge, since I had never designed a web page before, but one that I overcame. I poured my creativity and energy into the project, experimenting with different design tools and aimed to create a visually pleasing and user-friendly page.

In addition to the landing page, I also designed a range of marketing materials, including posters, flyers, and social media materials. It was a great opportunity to practice my design skills and to think creatively about how best to promote the conference and engage with potential attendees.

As the conference approached, it was great to see my designs come to life. I looked around at the attendees, soaking up the information and inspiration that the conference had to offer, I was happy to be a part of a movement that aims to make a difference in this world.

The second day of the conference was equally engaging, with a series of workshops designed to provide a more practical approach to biomimicry. Attendees were given the opportunity to learn hands-on techniques for incorporating natural design principles into their work, and to explore new ways of thinking about sustainability and innovation. During the event, my role was to capture the energy of the conference through my photography, and to help out with various logistical arrangements as needed. It was a great to be a part of such a dynamic workshop.
