Chasing the dreams: Chapter 5
After the hectic but rewarding experience of working on the Green conference with the Biomimicry Granada team, I decided to take a little trip to Portugal to recharge.
I began my trip with a night in Sevilla, where I soaked up the vibrant atmosphere of the night time old town. The next morning I set off on my journey to Faro, Portugal. It was a long carpool ride, but the scenery along the way was entertaining. I was excited to explore a new city. It was not my first time trying to go to Faro and experience the southern Portugal, but this time I was sure to reach my destination. My last attempt hit the rocks due covid. I was hiking the Camino de Santiago route, and from Santiago I was supposed to cycle through Portugal from north to south. Unfortunately, I only got a handful of cycling days in, just close to the border of Spain and Portugal, until the borders of Europe started to close. From there, my trip was a tale worthy journey back to Finland without a sight of the south of Portugal. Not this time! The carpool ride dropped me near Faro where I was able to catch local train to city central.
When I arrived in Faro, I spent a few days focusing on myself and enjoying a mini holiday. I savored with delicious food, spent lazy afternoons lounging on the sunny seaside, and explored the stunning natural surroundings of the nature reserve with some fellow travelers. It was a much-needed break from the intensity of the latest workshops. I felt my stress melting away with each passing day.
As the mini holiday drew to a close, I slowly eased myself back into my working routine. I spent the last couple of days of my trip working remotely, tying up loose ends from the conference, catching up sunsets and emails. It was a great way to transition back into work mode and to start thinking about the next project on the horizon.
